BRAMPTON - Brampton’s Lisa Kingsmore took four awards at the recent Big South Conference Softball Championship banquet. The junior outfielder with Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina, was selected the Big South Player of the Year. She was also named to the All-Academic team and was voted as the Big South Scholar Athlete of the Year. She was also named First Team All-Big South for the second straight season. Kingsmore hit an astonishing .459 during the regular season leading the Eagles to first-place with a 14-1 record. Winthrop was 33-17 overall with a couple of top 25 victories. The Ontario Minor Field Lacrosse League will be holding their Provincial Qualifiers in Brampton this coming weekend, from Saturday to Monday. Field lacrosse teams from across the province will compete in age divisions from novice to midget. All games will be held at the Creditview/Sandalwood lacrosse fields. The public is invited to come out and watch the action. Six members of the Tora Judo Club travelled to Brantford to compete in the annual shiai on Saturday, Genna Burnett returned home with a goild medal while second place finishes went to Adam Cowie, Alexander Bernardo, and Crystal Morgan. Océanne Peron placed third while Lucas Merrick managed a fourth-place finish. The Bullets Track Club is holding spring tryouts and registrations every Wednesday in May at 6:30 p.m. Tryouts are held behind Terry Miller Recreation Centre, by the track.
