BRAMPTON -
Peel's public school board is offering summer camps to help students improve reading, writing and overall learning skills. Peel District School Board's Summer Camp I Can is a four-week program being offered at board schools July 2-31. The camps are run by Peel board teachers and open to students in Grades 7 to 10. Planned activities include field trips, guest speakers, technology, real-life experiences and in-class group work. Grade 9 and 10 students will be offered a hands-on credit completion program that provides opportunity to earn a full credit while improving literacy and numeracy skills. Parents of Grade 7 and 8 students should contact their child's guidance counsellor or principal for further details. For Grade 9 and 10 students, not all secondary schools will run the program. Parents of high school students should contact the school guidance counsellor or principal to inquire about camp plans. Registration is limited for both programs. There is a $40 registration fee for students in Grade 7 and 8 and a $10 fee for Grade 9 and 10 students. Fees include the cost of field trips, materials and daily snacks. Busing will also be provided for students. The location of campsites will be provided on the registration forms.
