BRAMPTON -
Gordon Graydon Senior Public School students raised more than $2,700 to help reduce the spread of malaria in Africa. Students organized a variety of fundraising events, including hot dog, baked goods, crepe and ice cream sales, a raffle to guess the number of jelly beans in a jar, a personal assistant auction, offering manicures, washing cars, a movie day, paying to play sports, a draw for Nintendo Wii time and donating $5 to turn off opera music played over the loud speaker system. Students raised $2,711 during the three-week Spread the Net campaign. The money will be used to get insecticide-treated bed nets to African communities and should pay for about 271 nets.
