Amusement rides and an Extreme Wheels Competition for skateboarders and BMX enthusiasts will be running all weekend long in Chinguacousy Park, and the fun starts as early as tomorrow. Campbell Amusements rides will set up in the park, at Queen Street East and Bramalea Road, running from 3 to 10 p.m. tomorrow and Friday (May 15-16), 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday (May 17-18) and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday (May 19). The Extreme Wheels Competition runs from Saturday to Monday in the new skateboard park in Chinguacousy and it is held in cooperation with West49 for skateboarders, BMX riders and inline skaters. It will give them a chance to test their skills and compete to win prizes. Registration for the competitions is $5 for each, and helmets are mandatory. A signed waiver/registration form must be completed, and anyone under 18 must have a parent/guardian signature. The schedule is as follows: May 17- 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Skateboard competition. Test skills in the bowl, ride the rails, attack a 10 set of stairs; May 18- 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. BMX competition. Test skills in the bowl, a 5-foot high flat bank, the cool Flying Saucer; May 19- 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Inline Competition. Take on the hubba ledges, rails and planter boxes. Skateboard and BMX demonstrations will also be held Monday. The competitions are held rain or shine. There will not be any fireworks in the park, and residents are being reminded that, while Victoria Day is one of the four days during the year when it is legal to set off fireworks in Brampton, they can only be used on residential properties with 60-foot frontages (18 m).
