BRAMPTON - Peel police joined students, staff and parents at Centennial Senior Public School in Brampton to raise close to $5,300 for Cops for Cancer.
The students, parents and teachers organized bake sales, raffles and a school dance to help raise funds, and Constables Wayne Parkins and Shawn Artkin, and Inspector Cheryl Wilson volunteered to have their heads shaved at one of the school events.
“It’s great for the kids to see the communication between them and the police officers,” said school principal Simone Gravesande. “It helps them learn about their responsibilities in the community.”
The officers are part of the new Feeder School Program that has put bicycle patrol officers into senior elementary schools during the winter months.
